I would get either the WD Blue or the Seagate since they are both 7200rpm which makes them faster. Performance wise you will not notice any difference but the 64MB Cache on the WD will make it faster in benchmarks.

I would personally go with the WD blue, it's more often used as a builders drive. The Green is for low energy and sacrifices a tiny amount of performance. The Seagate has a higher chance of causing issues based on reviews vs WD.

So what's the real difference between retail and bare? Will I need to purchase an extra cord if it's bare? This is my first build so I'm learning as I go. Thank you for the help!

So retail might come with cables and some extra packaging. Bare will come with nothing but the drive.
