Installing the fan is easy. Just read the directions. Just make sure you clean the cpu with rubbing alcohol and follow the procedure listed for the thermal compound. The cooler I selected has the hardware to use the stock mounting bracket on the motherboard, so you won't have to worry about removing the motherboard and screwing on any adapter plates. The local computer store apparently doesn't know hardware. AMD really hasn't changed their heatsink mounting since the first Athlon 64's came out.

Thanks,
I was going to get a local computer store install the new fan for me. He said I had to know size of old one, measuring screw to screw or something like that, and depth, etc. So you sure this will fit my current one?

I think i need it because My hardware monitor on EasyTune5 is showing Temp of my AMD AM2 CPU: 31C/87F (fluctuates few degrees up and down) The FAN reading screen has a little warning icon next to the CPU fan. The RPM on that fluctuates between 1790 -1923.
The little icon next to is lit up and blinks between yellow and red. I think its done that from day one tho. Seems I remember that. I haven't looked at this EasyTune screen for years.
My system is showing temp. reading of 25C/77F
Just noticed the little red warning light goes off when the RPM goes over 2000

Thank you! Maybe I will try it. Do the instructions tell you how to take the old one off? This one came already attached I think. Its been years so hard to remember. But the invoice states it was included.

I have another computer built just like one above which I got this new CPU fan for to replace later if needed. Its been working pretty good since I changed the PSU.

In the meantime, like within a week, my husband's CPU fan stopped working completely. (Again same build computer) I was glad I had this replacement! So I let this local computer guy install it rather than try to figure out how to do that and risk hurting it. It took him only 15 minutes and he only charged me $35.
But now looking at the EasyTune5 program that comes with Gigabyte motherboard stuff, it has caution flags and is only showing about 1200 RPMs. Is this a lousy fan or is there some setting I need to change to increase the fan speed? I don't know how to do that and not sure if that EasyTune5 allows you to do anything other than tell it when to issue warnings. Thanks for any help.
