the h100i comes with a lifetime warranty, which includes any parts damaged by the failure of the water cooler.

I'd say that makes it a nobrainer.

The H100i is a definite no-no in my book.....not at that noise level ....skip to 1:45 mark)

Id get the Swiftech H220 or CM Eisberg 240L prestige. They topped the charts in the review below which looked at the Swiftech (1st place), Thermaltake (4th place), Coolermaster (2nd place) and Corsair (3rd place)units

But with the Coolermaster Eisberg 240L Prestige available for just $109, it's a easy decision:

1. Same price as 100i
2. Better thermally than 100i
3. Less than half as loud as 100I
4. Loop can be opened to cool other components, i.e. MoBo moffsets

Well, H100i has an 5 year warranty compared to Water 3.0 Extreme which has a 1 year warranty.
So +1 H100i
PS I own a H100 (not H100i) and had zero issues so I'm sure you'll have no problems with the H100i

i don't know... i have a h100, and while i agree the stock fans are rather loud at max settings, it moves enough air at medium settings and keeps my overclock so cool that i don't really have an issue with it. i'll take good strong rad fans over weak quiet ones any day of the week. if it really bothers you, you can replace the fans easily enough. The pump is dead silent~ and that warrenty plus the corsair customer service makes it all a nobrainer for me.

But if two things cost the exact same amount, don't you weigh the various performance concerns against one another and pick the one that "wins" in the most categories.

Thermal Performance - Win goes to CM by small margin
Acoustic Performance - Win goes to CM by huge margin
Flexibility - Only one horse in the race with regard to opening the loop.

yes, but if the CM fails and ruins your motherboard and cpu and gpu and psu they won't replace them for you, you'll eat the loss. corsair WILL replace them all.

I'm a huge CM fanboy but it only has a 2 year warranty and if you go to the feedback on newegg of the CM Eisberg 240L every other reviewer complains about it being noisy.

I find the CM noisy for my taste, it's comparable to the Swiftech at about 46 dBA .... but the H100i is more than 2.6 times as loud at 60 dBA

Corsair has had a somewhat different thing to say on the warranty. Im not saying they won't do it..... but I can't find it "in writing" anywhere. And on the forums, they say "case by case"

I got my h100 from fry's electronics for $50 because it was an opened box with missing mounting hardware. I didn't hesitate to buy it, and contacted corsair about the problem; trusting in their A+ reputation for their customer service and warranty. Corsair replaced all the mounting hardware, paying for the shipping, i got it inside of 7 days. they even offered to replace the whole unit, no questions asked. I refused because as i could easily see the unit was still unused, and i trusted they'd fix the problem if there was an issue.

I've worked in this business for a long time. 20 years ago customer service like corsair's was common in the computer and gaming industry. However, it's been 10 years since i could still say that with confidence. Today they're one of the last holdouts, and have a stellar reputation precisely because of it. If it has a corsair label on it, i know the company stands behind it. they do the same for their psus, cases, hard drives and ram. I've never known them to give someone an issue over a problem with their stuff.

Their standing policy behind ALL their closed loop liquid coolers is to replace ALL the parts that are damaged if one fails. I know personally one person who had to exercise this policy, on an old h50 (they had lower quality hoses on that model), corsair replaced his lga 1156 motherboard, and nehalam i7 cpu, with an ivy bridge equivalent (because both were no longer available). 3 weeks from breakdown to a whole new system with an h80i at the heart. Corsair offered to give him an h80 to replace the failed h50. He insisted on paying full price to corsair for an h80i in appreciation of what they did for him.

That's customer service. And it's really rare in the computer industry these days.

Same boat in a storm scout 2 case. 240mm Rads are my only option. I found through research both rads are the same rebranded asetek.

H100i wins, quietier, led on cooler that changes with temp. Though it is usually .5-1degree warmer, not a deal breaker.

Both come with the same software, just different branded Interfaces.

Would you trust their refurb units? I just bought the h100i from Frys for like $70. Compared to $109 new. What kind of warranty do their refurb carry?

Also, most review sites say it's best to replace the fans with quietier units with the 3.0 extreme. I'm going to take my chances with the stock h100i fans, but can always upgrade them later if they are too loud

certainly. mine was purchased the same way. they stick the refurb sticker on it if the package was sent to corsair for any reason, that brought the price down to 59.99, they took it all the way down to $45 because the box was opened, and the amd mounting hardware was removed from the box. in my case it was sent to corsair for a new mounting bracket to fit an LGA 2011 socket. Furthermore corsair honored their warranty even though it was technically a refurb.

lifetime warranty is a lifetime warranty no matter if your the primary or secondary owner of their closed loop coolers.

I don't find that all that unusual ..... I had a fan failure on a user's Antec case after 3 years ..... they sent two ..... no charge .... 3rd time they've done that. Antec also replaced the USB front panel modules when USB 2 came out ..... inquired if we could but USB 2 modules for 4 cases we had (1.5 to 2.5 years old. They sent 6 no charge.

Again, that is in conflict with Corsair's stated policy on their web site. While I don't doubt that they have done it "on a case by case" basis, Corsair's official warranty policy remains as stated on their web site. From the above links.

Hydro Series™ (Models H50v2, H55, H60v2, H60, H70 CORE, H80, H100, H80i, H100i, H90, and H110) have a 5 year warranty

Question:
Quote:
Say a H100i leaks what is the amount of compensation currently (assuming its not the users fault) - I been hearing comments all over the place from all of it to only $150?

Quote:
Corsair Answer: These type of cases are handled on a case to case basis.

While we can all be grateful when a company stands up and goes above and beyond, as Antec and Corsair had done in the examples mentioned, we can by no means expect that nor represent that everyone can expect the same result when outside the official warranty period or terms therein.

just thought i would give an update. I installed the refurb h100i, with aftermarket noctua nf-f12 fans instead of the stock ones (never even hooked up the stock fans). my computer is NO louder then when i had the Zalman 9900mx installed. the refurb unit looked new and in perfect shape. the noctua fans are ugly, but you cant see them in the storm scout 2. fans inside the case with the RAD outside on top (i cant fit both the fans and RAD inside the case.

when idling the computer seems to be about 4-5 degrees cooler. its stayed under 45 degrees when trans coding 2 movies for a blu ray burn and when playing BF3 for 40 minutes or so. i could tell because i set the cpu block to change colors after 25, 35, and 45 degrees, it never hit 45.
