Hello, I am looking for a possible upgrade in the future (not right now since i am taking a break from work due to sports)

my current setup:
gpu: XFX radeon 7870 2gb (the cheaper 1ghz one not the overclocked one)
cpu: intel i5-3570k @ 4.4 ghz
power supply: Thermaltake Toughpower XT 675 watt (this power supply puts out a max of 672 watts on the 12 volt rail FYI)
motherboard: ASRock z77 extreme 4

my main options that i am looking at are:
buy another 7870 and crossfire
sell my 7870 and buy a gtx 770 or radeon 7970 (gtx 770 most likely) i cant remember off the top of my head but im pretty sure the 770 is priced remarkably higher than the 7970 so keep in mind cost is a big factor for me.)

what do you guys recommend? I definitely know the crossfire will yield much more performance than the 7970 but is it worth the possible headache (on top of that i find the idea of it and putting that in my case pretty cool :D )

also, what about the 770 i realize its an overclocked 770 but some of these factory overclocks are insane (around 1200 mhz with a pretty easy overclock to 1250 mhz which is just crazy)

another thing to point out is if i order another 7870 i can still apply for the mail in rebate. why? because my silly self forgot to send out the original mail in rebate (there's a limit to 1 per household) so i can get one for around 150 which is nothing compared to the original price i paid of 250 maybe a little upwards because of tax but even if you consider tax on the 150 its still a 7 dollar difference for where i live.

If i were to buy a 770 or a 7970 i would not be looking to crossfire that or sli it considering i would need a new power supply, and im waiting until i upgrade to the new haswell 1150 platform to get a new power supply (sleep state requirements)

lastly, this is off topic but does anybody know where i can get raw uncompressed video of crysis 3 on max settings? i have not purchased crysis 3 yet and i last tried it on my 7870 during beta phase, a combination of a not powerful enough card with new drivers so it was pretty much unplayable. Since youtube compression is pretty bad you cant really see the correct quality and such, just a random question if anyone knows.

Well AMD announced their new R7/R9 lineup of graphics cards earlier today, and from what weve seen so far it looks like very exciting stuff, if you can hold off I would reccommend doing so.

Even if you don't like AMD these new cards are sure to reduce the prices of the current 760/770/780/Titan range.

hah wow, who would have thought that the day i post this is the day they announce their next gen, i have been putting off typing this up for a while lol.
but yeah i have been prefering amd in gpus lately so idk, but im really not looking to spend all that much so the new gen will probably fit more into the 770 price range for the type of card that i would look at. also yeah i definitely am waiting a while because im not working right now due to sports ( as stated in OP ). but yeah ill gladly wait for that to come out. which also brings me back to my cf idea, the 7870 will probably drop even more in price (but they might just stay at what they are at right now since these are pretty recent price drops. correct me if i am wrong but its just going straight to R9 right? if you can possibly explain why, i have noticed radeon 8000 series gpus in laptop apus though
