There are three main BIOS editions.

Firstly, there's the Award bios, which was the first type of BIOS and is still in service today. This is used on most old and some newer motherboards. It featured a uniformed grey and blue color scheme and a keyboard was required to use it, no matter what.

Secondly, there is the H2 bios, which is a notebook / laptop edition of the Award bios. It removes overclocking features and keyboard / mouse startup sequences, due to the fact that a laptop has already a keyboard and a mouse.

Finally, there's the UEFI bios. This is the latest and most modern BIOS edition. This BIOS is easier to understand and easier to use, since it incorporates both a mouse and keyboard. It is a Graphical User Interface and shows dials, has much more features (depending on motherboard make and model) and can be fully customized to the manufacture's preferences.
