I just got a new laptop with the following specs:

Hp pavilion 15 notebook pc
intel i5
Radeon Graphics (TM) HD 8670M (I believe it is 2gb)
windows 8

Everything seems to be working well. However, I finished installing steam + dota2. Now everytime I launch the game, the computer says that my pc encountered an problem. If I want to search the error I should look up SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (atikmdag.sys). Then it proceeds to restart my computer. Thereafter, it sends some information to microsoft about the problem especially about the following 3 files:

C:\Windows\Minidump|092713-34468-01.dmp
C:\Users\My Name\local\temp\WER-53812-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Windows\Memory.DMP

I don't know how to fix the problem. Should I contact steam support or should I take my computer to the shop I got it from? If there is quick fix that I can try, I would greatly appreciate your help.

The atikmdag error is pretty common for older versions of the amd drivers. Go to AMD site, punch in your gpu model and os info and get the latest drivers (not beta) and install those. That should cure your problem.

I went to the amd site and tried to get the latest driver. However, all I could find was the beta driver. I am not sure what gpu model is, sorry I am basically technology illiterate. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me find the proper driver. Also, would I need to uninstall the driver I have already? Or can I just run the new driver's exe file and it will take care of the rest?

What's the model number of your laptop? If you can provide the cpu and gpu info, that would help.

The above is the link to the store where I got this from as well as other specifications of my laptop. I believe it has Radeon Graphicks (TM) HD 8670M (2gb card). Is that what you mean by gpu?
Btw thanks so much for your help

These are the drivers for your Graphics Card. Download from here. Uninstall the previous drivers: Go to Control Panel and then uninstall Catalyst Control Center. After that fresh install the downloaded drivers. That would be it..

The latest graphic drivers for your laptop are HERE. Download and install the driver from 2013-07-12 under the Driver-Graphics area.
