Hi all, i am wanting to start a side "business" just to bring in some extra cash as a broke college student. I decided i could build home style PCs for people that need one, thinking i can probably build and sell them for cheaper than they can go and buy one from a store while still making what little money can be made from this. Im just looking for a base- what components to start with for say a $300 build, $500 build, and a $750+ build. For example i can say these are what you will get with a $500 PC but you can upgrade this and this to this and this. And remember, these are aimed at casual home style users, not hardcore gamers.

at the $500 and under area, OEM builds are usually cheaper for what you get. The manufacturer subsidises part of the hardware and OS price and loads up the machine with all their ad icons and company software in return. The other thing is, you'll have a whole lot of people who will be coming back to you if something goes wrong. Having an OEM to run to for any kind of issue is good for a casual user, who doesn't want to keep track of different companies warranties for each piece of the PC...just sayin
