I have an ASUS G75VX with windows 8 and 8gb ram it has 2 open slots for more ram. Now, if I were to add 2 more 4gb stick will it make it 16gb and also which is the most compatable with the stock ram or should I just upgrade the stock ram and buy 4 whole new sticks?

Hello,

Maximum memory capacity for your notebook is 32 GB. Max supported configuration is 8+8+8+8 = 32 GB. Currently, you have two 4 GB modules, so you can add two more 4 GB modules to make it total 16. But, I would not recommend that, better to install 8 GB modules, so that in the future you do not need to replace existing modules of 8 GB.

For eg: 4+4+4+4, if you upgrade in future, you'll need to replace with 8 GB modules
but if you install 4+4+8+8+ or 4+4+8+0...
use cosair free online ram tool it ready your system and ram that in it now and pop up dimms that match it. you can also use cpu-z and look under the ram tabs for the ram info. what you want to match is the voltage, speed and timing of the ram. if the main ram now is 1.65v 1333 9-9-9-9-24t ram then you want to look for 1.65 1333 ram with the same 9x timing.

Okay but would I have to buy 2 8gb to go into the other 2 slots or just 2 4gb to make it 16gb?
