I want to take it to a specialist but its too expensive. is there any software for mac i can download or what can i do.

Was it turned on when it was dropped? If so the read/write heads may have impacted the platters and damaged the drive.

Does the drive appear in the bios list of connected SATA devices at boot, or in the disk management?

It may not be recoverable due to damage to the platters, but I would try a free data recovery program like Recuva first from HERE.

You might also want to try messing around with the cables. On my old WD external drive, the USB connection stopped working a long time ago and now only the Firewire connection works. In my experience, WD enclosures tend to easily get issues with connectivity if things get shaken up/slightly out of place. So, you can try different connection ports (if you have them) and different cables to try to rule out this type of an issue.
