just to be clear though, even with a new GPU you won't be able to play those games well. They will be playable on their lowest settings, and most likely with poor frame rates. It is pointless putting money into such an old system.

also your psu is very weak, and the 7730 requires a 400w min. You may be able to get away with something less, if it was a very good brand, but with a 230 w to start with, assuming it's old now, it most certainly isn't...

You would be taking a chance. You should consider a new PSU.

Yeah i was thinking exactly the same as Keith. Your once amazing CPU just isn't cutting it these days.

Buying a beefy GPU will just end up in low frame rates anyway because the cpu will just bottleneck so you won't really be gaining anything. Those games will be playable most certainly with the right GPU & PSU. Just won't look great/ run very smoothly.

I know this of experience because my has the same cpu as you in his rig, 2 gigs ram and i got him a GTX 285 for 30 quid off eBay. 1600*1050 ( i think )

Can play BF3 and stuff but it's pretty choppy and i don't even want to try Caspian border with 64 players on it!! Will run War Thunder maxed out but again CPU bottlenecks so he gets a low frame rate. Fallout 3 and Skyrim are bottlenecked as well. Looks nice but plays choppy.

okay :) that's good so. on the side of the PSU there should be a sticker with the mdel number and other details. with the oeral wattage, and a break down of wattage per rail. That's the info you need. make and model number. If you only got it you should have a receipt/packing list with the basic details required.
