Is my pc going to be good enough for next gen games ?

Hi, I am new to Tomshardware and this is my first post. The community here seems to be quite helpful and friendly so I thought of asking this question here. I bought a new pc 4 months ago and I played alot of games on it including Assassins creed games, Borderlands 2, Elder scrolls V Skyrim, Saint Rows the third, Alan wake and so many other games including witcher 2 and battlefield 3 which were quite demanding but all of them ran well on my pc on ultra settings but with the release of next gen consoles and the introduction of unreal engine 4 the new games are going to be more demanding than ever and thats why I was wondering if my pc is going to be able to handle the next gen games, I don't really care about maxing them out, I just want to play them at playable framerate on medium settings or higher if possible. Anyway here are my pc specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 Quad core
GPU: Ati 7870 OC Edition
Resolution: 1600 x 900
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600 MHZ
Storage: 500 GB
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

More about good gen games
  1. Your PC should absolutely be able to handle upcoming games, especially if you're ok with playing on medium settings. :)
  2. Agree with redspring.

At that res, most definitely. Your CPU is strong enough to drive a higher end card like a 7970 or GTX770, so a simple upgrade will give you even more longevity. But the 7870 is no slouch, and will be good to go for a while yet.

As a example of a next generation game, here are the system requirements for Battlefield 4:

If you go down thru the requirements comparing them to your system YOU can run Battlefield 4 which is a next generation game,

    YES is your answer!

As for Windows 8 it is RECOMMENDED! Good Luck :-)
