so down to the nitty gritty, my current system build is as follows.
-Zalman Z9 Plus ATX case
-CoolerMaster Hyper212 EVO cpu cooler
-Phenom II x4 955 BE (3.2ghz stock) running @ 3.4ghz currently
-Sapphire Radeon 6870 1GB GDDR5
-2x4GB Gskill ripjaws @ 1333 for a total of 8GB
-Biostar A770E3 AM3 Mobo
-Corsair CX600 PSU (600watt)
-Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM Sata3 HDD

now that's basically the just of it, and the bones of this system has done me well for a good few years now but it's starting to show its age.
my budget is semi tight, meaning i can't really afford to spend more than 100$ish a month on my pc as that is all the extra income i have these days for stuff like this. but christmas is around the corner, and i have been really thinking of splurging on a new 7950 or 7870 but decided to tough it out waiting for AMD's new lineup of cards.

my questions are mainly, should i wait for the new lineup and pickup a card after they have had a chance to settle in? also suggestion for which card.
should i be worried about my aging Phenom II in the coming months of new consoles?
and if so, what would be the ideal cpu/mobo combo to go with that would hopefully last me another couple years at least.

My temps are really good however so i do have quite a bit of headroom on the cpu still,
did have it bumped up to 4.1ghz at one time, i just didn't want to put too much strain on the chip.
nor do i want to so much now, as it may be handed down to the gf's pc.

ideally i wouldn't like to spend more than 300ish on the cpu/mobo combo before taxes,
and as for the video card, if i were to upgrade now my budget would be 210-220 or so before tax and 300 if i were to wait until christmas.

i'm not sure i'm missing anything, but thanks for the replies in advance!
P.S i game at 1080p

just wait, when black friday rolls around there will be plenty of deals out there. since you said you can spend ~100 a month, in 2 months time thatll be 200 dollars and the new amd gpus should be out by then. As for upgrading your cpu upgrading right now isnt the greatest price vs performance, waiting till then will help that also.
