Ok, i'l explain the best way i can.. all other customers' reviews are like ''my windows rating is now 7.5''..& there are many positive reviews....and customerss....my old ram scored 5.9 ... i changed my ram, restarted my pc, when i look at windows index...there was a refresh button & i clicked it.... then after all ,i looked at my index and is still 5.9 ......i have no idea.........any help from any of you guys would b a pleasure.. THANK YOU!..

&&&&&& also CPU-Z recognises the ram change..

What ram did you have then and what ram do you have now? My basic set of 1600mhz ddr3 gets 7.9, windows isn't the best when it comes to a "performance score". Uhm, I suppose the only thing you can do is go into the bios and check if your ram is running at the proper speeds... (or download CPU-Z)

It has nothing to do with the speed of your RAM, its HOW MUCH RAM you have. Simply because you have ONLY 4GB installed, your WEI is capped at 5.9:

"If your computer has a 64-bit central processing unit (CPU) and 4 gigabytes (GB) or less random access memory (RAM), then the Memory (RAM) subscore for your computer will have a maximum of 5.9." -Microsoft.com

Considering a system with 4GB RAM could also be a monster of a gaming machine, that should show you about how useful WEI really is. Like rdg said, ignore that and use a real benchmark.

It's probably not the RAM because I did the same thing with mine (upgrading the RAM) and didn't notice the score change. I wasn't trying to change it but I checked anyway just to see and nothing..

Ok, now i get it cuz am using 64-bit operating systtem....thxx....But.as you know ... m using 64bit but it says 3.46GB usable... i thought it was 32-bit that can only handle 4GB ..???

Yeah that a little weird. Can you upload a screen shot of what you see when you right click computer and hit properties. (DON'T include your windows activation code)

Also what mobo are you using? It might be that. But I don't know of any DDR3 based mobos that only allow 4GBs... (maybe some old 775 sockets?)

You might get some luck out of reseating your ram.

Try this:

1) Bring up the Run Window (Windows Key + R)
2) Type in resmon to bring up the Resource Manager
3) Click on the Memory Tab.

Check out the colored bar at the bottom, specifically what it says under "Hardware Reserved". This is likely where the missing memory is (reserved for hardware).

It's actually very likely to happen in other systems. I've seen this happen for a number of reasons from trying to install more than 4GB RAM on a 32-bit OS to unsupported DIMMs. Without knowing all the variables, I couldn't say. I would suggest you do some searching (try Googling hardware reserved ram). Otherwise, you'll need to provide specifics about the RAM that was previously in there, what you bought, BIOS settings, the motherboard, and so on.
