I have a Maxtor 500gb external hard drive which has been showing that it is virtually full with just over 1gb left available. I have found this hard to believe but that is what the ‘Properties’ is indicating. I have removed all unnecessary file/folders and the available space has increased to 15gb.
However that means that there is still 484gb of used space according to ‘Properties’.
When I manually check the total amount of used space in Windows Explorer it registers only 83gb.
I would welcome any suggestions as to why ‘Properties’ is showing 400gb more used space than Windows Explorer.
