Alright, so for the past few days, I've been having some Internet issues. At first, I would get random disconnects while just browsing Reddit or other websites. I have since restarted my router and that issue is now gone. But now, I'm getting constantly disconnected while playing (multiplayer) games. I'm not sure if it happens while playing singleplayer games as well, though I can try it to see if it would help diagnose the issue. I do have the latest driver installed, though they do have a more recent one that's for Windows 8. Not sure if trying that driver would help being that I'm on Windows 7. I haven't change any hardware, I haven't installed anything, so I'm not really sure what could be causing this issue. I do believe that it's specific to my computer because when I get disconnected, my tablet (which is connected to the same wifi connection) works fine.

--------------------------------------

It does indeed seem to be specific to my computer. I just tried playing a multiplayer game (Black Ops 2) on my old computer and I didn't get any disconnects (played 2 rounds). Then I tried Black Ops 2 on my current computer and got disconnected in my first round.

--------------------------------------

I should clarify a bit. The reason why I say that I get disconnected is because when the problem occured while playing Black Ops 2, a few times, I would get kicked from the Black Ops 2 servers and when I checked my Steam friends list, it would say that I have no Internet connection etc. Maybe my connection isn't actually dropping, but I'm just getting a huge, huge lag? I don't know :p

--------------------------------------

I just pinged www.google.com while playing Black Ops 2. Minimum 32ms, average 80ms, and at times, it would just up a couple of hundred ms and go as high as 1541ms. Here's a screenshot:

And here's another screenshot when I actually lost connection:

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Alright, so it does seem to be distance/location/interference related, though I'm not sure why now since I've had my computer in this location for 3 months now. I brought my computer to about 2 feet of my router (previously it was 2 floors up) and had no issues. I did a scan using inSSIDer and there was no overlap - my computer could only detect two networks, my own (channel 11) and someone else's (channel 1) which would appear on and off. Could it be possible that my network adapter has weakened or something? Or perhaps the router?
Try connecting wired to see if it still happens. If not it could be related to your wireless card possibly being faulty. Are you sharing your wireless with anyone? If so, what are they doing when you get dropped. Some programs can cause connections to drop you from a game, especially torrent programs. Netflix can cause this also if you have low bandwidth. I have a buddy of mine that plays with me online. When his GF streams something he constantly gets dropped from games and has to give up till she's done, or tell her to stop streaming. LOL, but that rarely works though. :p

Yes, my network is shared, but that's never been an issue before. Plus, the same thing happens even if I'm the only one on the network. I've tried a different network adapter and the issue still occurs. No other programs running, sometimes Skype, but that's normally not an issue. So yea, I guess I will have to try a wired connection later today.

I don't think it's the location, both yesterday and today, I played two rounds of Black Ops 2 on my laptop (in the same location as my computer) and I didn't get any lag/disconnections. If the wired connection doesn't work, I'll have to give my ISP a call.
