Hi, i want to connect a xbox 360 controller to my windows 8 computer, but i want to ask a few questions before i buy one, since i otherwise use a ps3 controller. First of all, do i need any drivers for an xbox controller on windows 8, or are they preinstalled? Can i just plug the controller in to the pc and use it? If not, where can i get the drivers? Do i have to buy a controller that comes with a cd with the drivers on them, or can i use a controller that came with a xbox 360? And how do i connect a controller to steam?

I would guess, assuming it's a usb controller (that's the one i've seen) that it would be a plug and play type thing where windows will detect and download needed drivers like it would do for a new usb drive or usb mouse/keyboard. It's more expensive, but at least you know what you're getting. And if it's on a computer you probably won't be sitting the same distance away as you might for a console

Yep it auto installs drivers for 8.1 i plugged in my afterglow xbox 360 controller and it saw it and auto installed necessary drivers.
