Hey guys i just recently put together a new system. I currently own a HIS 1st gen 7970(the red vanilla cards) and i ordered an HIS Ice Q X2 7970 with my new system. I was hoping that i can xfire these? I have my system being built by Cyberpower and that's the only 7970 they have from HIS. I've read in a few threads that its totally doable it's just with the Nvidia cards that they have to be the same make and model? I know that there is the AMD r900x cards coming really soon, but i think since i have a 7970 already running adding another one being that they are only 349$ would give me great performance for the next year or so,then upgrade to the next gen. Any tricks or insight into making this work would be greatly appreciated, Long time reader first time poster!

Thanks!!
Kris

Yes you can crossfire them. With AMD, you can crossfire cards with the same first 2 numbers (ex a 7970 and 7950) although I think it will run at the lowest clock speed of the two cards. Brand of card shouldnt matter.
