Playing sound out of speakers and monitor

Hello. I'm trying to play sound out of two devices in this case my monitor and speakers. I have my speakers plug into the back jack. I have my monitor hooked up with HDMI thou my graphics card.

I want to play sound out of my monitor and speakers simultaneous right now i have to disable one or the other for one to work.

My setup is as follows.

Monitor- Asus VH238H
Speakers - Logitech LS21 2.1
Graphics card- GeForce GTX 760
MotherBoard- GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H
Operating system- Windows 8

If you can tell the monitor to use the 3.5mm in(while on HDMI), you can use a Y cable to send the analog audio from your sound cards(green) 3.5mm jack to both together.

Alternatively, If your sound card(onboard) has jack re-tasking, you may be able to run a cable from another plug(lets say black) on the sound card to the monitor while leaving the speakers plugged in at the same time.
