I am currently making a gaming computer and along with it i will be making videos with it. I was wondering if GPU or CPU would make it render a video more quickly. I'm using sony movie studio platinum suite 12 if that helps answer my question.
Right now i am looking to purchase an Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor or an Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core. I am wondering if i should go down to an intel i3 processor with a high end graphics card but im not sure, im on a budget here and im trying to save money.

3570k has reached "end-of-life" status..... if investing in a new box, wiser to get the current generation for long term viability and better performance. The 1155 platform will be cheaper as the components are heavily discounted but if ya need to replace one of them a year from now, finding replacements wont be easy. Try and find a 1156 MoBo now if ya wanna see what I mean

Sony supports both CUDA and Open CL but the CUDA implementation is the more mature one which favors nVidia

3570K is a good choice with budget, and 1155 mobos and CPUs will be around till at a minimum the release of Broadwell desktop, currently projected for 1st quarter of 2015, at which time the current newest gen mobos will be phasing out same as the 1155 ones due to the release of DDR4...
