is there any way to make my Apricot RS780L mother board, (95watt) recognize this cpu? It would seem to me that it would recognize it and just run at a slower speed. I mean the cpu couldn't take 125w if it's not being offered by the 95w motherboard, but it should still work shouldn't it?

That would lower the power requirments for sure, but if you can get into the bios to do that, i'd just lower the speed to get more performance out of it while meeting the TDP requirement. But it may also be that the board will just lock it out anyway because of the CPU model...in that case you can't do anything about it.

It's not just the power capabilities sometimes, manufacturer's can program their boards to not even boot if a 'non-supported' cpu is inserted. Are you asking because you've tried it? or because you want to? If it will boot with it, you may be able to clock it down to where it would run normally, but that isn't an automatic thing.

I've tried it and I'm getting a error on boot up that says, cpu not supported". One thing I didn't do....I didn't clear CMOS before I booted up, would this make a difference and possibly help it to recognize it?
