fx6300 or i5? CPU or GPU or both? 2nd opinion?

I have an

AMD X3 720
GTX 260
Foxconn A79A-S AM2+/AM2
4GB Mushkin DDR2 PC6400

All I want in life is for my kids to sleep 8 hours and to play RTW2 and future TW titles pretty on one monitor.

Looking for a second opinion on the anandtech forum thread.

Your best bet to future proof your pc for some time is add either a goof I 5 or fx 8350 and at lest a 7950 radeon or a nvidia 760 card then there will be no doubts for some time the 720 was a fine cpu for its time also the 260 gpu was as well. But recently I had to do a rebuild for a freind because he had a amd x 2 920 it was still fast but was showing it age compared to the cpu I replace it with.

The boards your looking at may not support a fx 6300 you need to go to there web page and see if they do and the older tech sometimes isnt the right direction you want to go.

if your budget is around 200-400, any i5 with a B75 mobo will do the trick, if you want to OC though you would need i5-4670K and a Z87 based mobo like Asrock Z87 extreme 4.
