this is now annoying me. when i press something on the taskbar such as show the desktop or on avast disable antivirus it dosent leave. it just stays there and dosent do anything when i click on it, change windows or anything. to get rid of it i have to change screen res then change it back. f5 dosent do anything either. how do i fix this?

It sounds like the desktop is not automatically "refreshing" itself after you've clicked on something. If that is the case, no need to change resolution, just press F5 to force a screen refresh. For a permanent solution to this refresh problem, this may help:

Start > Run
Type CMD
Press Enter.
Type SFC /SCANNOW in the command window.
Press Enter
