Okay, so I live in Malta and this would be the first time building; I've spent the past couple of months browsing the forums here, and reading reviews, and I think I've come up with a build. It's for a budget Intel gaming PC - roughly around 1000 euroes for the whole thing.

CPU: Intel i5 3330
Motherboard: Asrock Z74 (or Gigabyte B75)
Memory: Corsair 8GB Vengeance
Videocard: GTX 650 ti Boost
Power supply: CX600
Case: Thermaltake ElementG V10001W2Z
Hard drive: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue 3.5" 7200rpm SATA3 Hard Drive

And that's it, I think. What do you think? Should I downgrade, upgrade? Did I forget any parts? My sister wants it primarily, for working with Sony Vegas and games on the lines of Alan Wake.

first i would like to say i feel sorry for you that you have to spend that much in Malta. that system would only cost about 575 euroes in the US. but as for the system i would suggest a bluray burner, and consider networking. aside from that an upgrade of ram, and a ramdisk can help video editing alot.

Yeah, stuff like this is expensive in Malta, and it doesn't help that shipping them in would cost me more :/  So I'm sort of stuck with buying things here -- is there a bluray burner you'd recommend, please?

asus and lg all have great options but i would get a 12x no need to shell out the extra cash for a 14x
