Hello everyone,

I had 3 hard drives, they are all installed with win7 pro. Last night I decided to format all three drive to clear out the clusters. My psu only has 2 sata power cord so I would have to put every file from drive #1 to drive #2, unplug drive #1, plug in drive #3, put everything from drive #2 to drive #3, format #1 #2, put everything from drive#3 to drive#1, format drive #3. So now all three drives are formatted and installed with win7 again.

This morning I found out that all three drive has failed. Two HHD shown "bootmgr is missing", the SSD shown "no media is found". The boot order menu in BIOS recognized all three drives. I tried every solution I found on google including system repair with OS disc inserted, rebuildbcd cmd, and even format it again through installation screen. The problem persists after I shutdown the computer and power it on, "bootmgr is missing". (I had to install some driver after I format it, I restart the computer few times without shutting it down and it didn't give me the error, I think It only happens after I completely shutdown the computer.)

Some articles suggest that it might be caused by bad cables, so I replace it with a new sata cable yet the problem still didn't solved. My motherboard has six sata port so I tried others too, didnt work. I am conflicted on whether I should buy a new psu or not, hell I don't even know if the psu is causing the problem. The HHD did spin when i plug it in and boot order in BIOS did recognized the drives. I don't know what else would I try... And I am not sure what causes the problem.

Any suggestions :(  ?

As to your main problem, you wrote installed :all three drives are formatted and installed with win7 again so you installed windows 7 on all drives? Or just one?

They are are individual physical drive. I formatted them individually and installed win7 to all three drives.

I'm just curious why you would do that, but regardless.

Did you disconnect the other drives when you installed windows 7 on the other drives?

Also which motherboard? If I recall there was a recall on some LGA1155 boards because of failing sata connectors.

i.e.
Disk0 -> Win7
Disk1 -> disconnected
Disk2 -> disconnected

Disk0 -> Disconnected
Disk1 -> win7 install
Disk2 -> Disconnected

Or did you have the other drives connected when you were installing?

edit: stupid forum script destroyed my formatting. looked fine on preview.

I do have two drive connected when I format and install. But I clean install one at a time.

P.s. what could I do if I want to use my SSD for software, and two HHD for data?
The reason why I gave all of them a OS is because I could access each individual drive if I decided to unplug it and bring it to somewhere else.

Ugh my post didn't make it stupid server error. I'll summarize again.

Disconnect all but the SSD. Make sure the SSD is plugged into Sata0. Install windows on it. Set boot order so that you boot from Sata0. Reinstall (plug in) the HDDs. Once your loaded into windows go to diskmgmt.msc format the drives to a file system of your choosing. If the drives are <2tB and want cross compatibility I suggest fat32.

I use baredrives as well with a craddle like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... different brand though with 2 docks and eSata connections.
