Question, on the first build, and also on the 2nd, you chose the corsair vengeance memory 1866 but its part of a combo from newegg which runs 240 at the cheapest was there a particular reason you chose this particular set other than the rebate?

is overclocking a cpu really that important that it makes the intel build less balanced?

I think what he meant was the CPU and GPU pairing... It should be fine but might go a bit slower on max settings. If you really want max settings on BF4 I would go with this:

i like the look of that one too, how does this look basically is your first build but a little modified and still fits into my budget, i had to change the ram cause like i said in the post before it was part of a combo with the cheapest being 240$ and i took the case off cause i have one just not sure the parts will all fit in it if not ill buy one then.

Well if he chooses not to overclock then I would go with the i5 and a hd 7970.

well honestly im not sure i understand the purpose of overclocking as far as getting a marginal increase in performance but what is the purpose of overclocking i never got that hardcore into dealing with cpu's before i wen straight console but coming back into pc games, which is all i use it for besides forum trolling ;p checking my email, but im a hardcore gamer spending most of my free time doing just that.

Overclocking can provide more than just marginal gains. It will provide quite a nice increase in FPS, productivity, etc. It's also really fun, its more of an enthusiast thing. Seeing how far you can push your kit and the kinds of numbers you can get. But it can also be dangerous and requires better components.

So if you are not into Overclocking get an i5-4430, a nice mobo, good PSU and a decent "sweet spot" GPU. 7950 or GTX 760

overclocking intrigues me i can not lie ive always been a computer person but got out of the game and went to consoles several years ago and coming back into it now, while everything is still the same its quite different as well, i was playing around with the builds and have come up with this variation of RazerZ's intel build that will allow me to possibly go to an overclockable core let me know what you guys think.

also even if i do upgrade to an overclockable core im unable to sqeeze in an aftermarket cooler so i wouldnt even be able to make use of the option til i could get one.

You can't overclock that CPU if wanted to overclock you would need a i5-4670k, a good ATX motherboard, and a CPU cooler. Just note it can get expensive.

yea I'm aware that one you can't overclock but with the price difference i could squeeze in the core that can be overclocked with this being a micro ATX i would have to get a different motherboard that's more expensive too and obviously a cpu cooler it may make more sense for me to stay with the curent build i have as long as i can get 25-30+ fps pretty much all the time ill be happy.

Maybe if you could save up some more you can get a higher wattage PSU and a motherboard that can support sli so you will be able to game in the future.

is this one better than the previous i see the obvious brand name difference and the price tag difference but is there any benefit with going with this one than that one?i already started ordering parts but being the weekend and sunday nothing is processed yet so i can cancel the things i have ordered the MSI board and asus graphics card but as i said being the weekend there is still time to cancel and reorder id like to get everything ordered today that way it can all be processed this week and hopefully come in about the same time sorry for all the questions and everything you guys been a big help already.

Yes MSI mobos aren't that reliable. Also this GPU can overclock at high speeds while still remaining cool. Lots of other things too like that cheap PSU. If it fails than your whole system is gone

Thank you again, the last thing i needed was to get some faulty or unreliable hardware, one last thing what kind of fps you think this setup would be looking at? Admittedly i would like to have 35-40 fps at all times but i realize that I'm on tight budget and cant afford the best of the best.
