I'm going to switch my PATA HDD for a PATA SSD, and I just want to confirm that there's no difference between PATA and SATA SSDs, besides speed. Is there any difference in noise or longevity? Obviously every make of drive will be different, but in general there's no reason that PATA should be any worse?

Also, would you recommend buying a PATA SSD or a PATA->SATA convertor / SATA SSD? I don't plan on re-using my SSD on any other motherboards; I'm just wondering if there's any difference in performance between those two options on a PATA motherboard.

SSD's do not make any noise.
I do not have experience with the PATA/SATA converter. I do have the experience with a PATA SSD however, and it was well worth it. You will need a 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch converter to do this unless you can find a 3.5 inch PATA SSD which I doubt. One such as this.

Here is a Youtube video i did years ago. Excuse the harsh language I had quite the buzz going on. Hopefully I will not get banned from Tom's!
