Hello.
Here's an interesting problem. I just installed my Z87 M OCFormula, and it did boot, and is reading my windows 7 install from the previous motherboard, however, I have no USB control...which means I have no mouse or keyboard. So, I can not log in, navigate, or even reinstall the Windows OS, simply because I cant maneuver around.
What am I supposed to to now??
Windows 7 Pro
ASRock Z87M OCFormula
1150 socket

Solution

Fixed it!...I did a complete wipe and format of my hard drive (which took a very long time), reloaded the OS, and the mouse and keyboard remained recognized this time...so that is good. Now all I got to do is convince Microsoft this is my Windows 7 Pro OS, and not a pirated version!

1. yes, I've also tried the USB ports on the front panel, and the 3.0 ports, none are recognized
2. I've put the old computer back together, and everything works as it always did. My thought is maybe I could load the ASRock drivers into the old system, so when I put the new motherboard in, the drivers would be there...that did not work as it is not the correct platform ASUS vs ASRock
3. I can boot from disk, to reload the Windows OS, but I'm still stuck when trying to choose the language, because I have no keyboard to use the arrows to select, or to start the reinstall because I cant use the enter button on the keyboard
4. I can enter BIOS on boot, the keyboard and mouse work there, it's just when I come out of POST, and enter the Windows environment, I loose my USB's
Thanks for the help!

This is wired mouse/KB? Insure that fast boot is not enabled in the bios.

It may also help if you set your bios UEFI setup utility to disable USB legacy support.

If that doesn't do it, I would update the bios to the latest as the initial one had some bugs or see if you can get your hands on a PS2 mouse or KB.

yeah...I've tried disabling Legacy USB, but that did not help. The mouse and keyboard work fine in BIOS, it's just after I leave BIOS and entering the OS that all USB's stop working...Inside BIOS, everything is fine

Sure, I understand that they work in the bios but no longer work once you start the installation. This is not an uncommon issue particularly with wireless and gaming models.

Use the two USB ports on the back and when you get to the install point when they stop working unplug them both and then reattach them. This will often allow them to be recognized.
