SPECS:
Motherboard: EVGA x58 SLi 3
CPU: Intel i7 950 @ 3.07GHz
RAM: Corsair 6GB Triple Channel Memory
GPU: MSI GTX 460 Hawk Talon
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro 850w
Storage: OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD & Intel 240GB SSD

Order of events:

1: Random BSODs over the past two monthss

2: System crashed a week ago and bios showed "Reboot and select proper boot device" error

3: Thinking it was a virus or windows error, I reinstalled windows onto the same drive (60GB OCZ Vertex 2) .. And yea, windows allowed me to reinstall onto the drive, but bios couldn't boot to it properly? .. What?

4: Less than a day goes by after reformatting and I get the same problem (Crashes/freezes and bios shows "Reboot and select proper boot device")

5: I was frustrated at this point so I gave up on the 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 and installed Windows on the 240GB Intel SSD (thinking it was a drive problem with the OCZ Vertex 2)

6: While installing Windows on the Intel 240GB SSD, I noticed that the Windows installation did not list my 60GB OCZ SSD. Bios didn't show it listed under storage devices either.. So I figured that the problem was definitely the 60GB SSD.

7: Windows is installed on the Intel 240GB SSD and I'm thinking I handled the problem

8: I woke up the next morning to a crashed computer. I turn it back on and begin browsing the internet, playing games, etc. and I notice it's running slow. It also ended up crasheing during the middle of a game. Whenever I'm running multiple tabs in Firefox the computer shits itself. It just freezes randomly for seconds at a time, and crashes whenever it wants to.

9: It's been this way for almost a week now, and I've noticed that whenever Windows goes into sleep mode it's destined to crash. Also, when I put it on sleep mode to go to sleep the other night, the fans got louder than I've ever heard them before (odd).. So I just turned it off.

This is where I'm left off right now

TLDR: BSOD, Bios couldn't boot windows from drive, Reinstalled windows on separate drive, continues to crash and freeze whenever it likes

If I had to take a guess at what the problem is, I would say it's a motherboard/CPU issue. I'd like to think that two SSDs wouldn't fail so easily.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a broke college student that can't pay for a hardware diagnostic test.

Thanks

Maybe try to use the SSD in another SATA port.
