I use my computer for Gaming, watching movies and general everyday tasks. Nothing too intense. Been told I wouldn't even take advantage of the hyperthreading offered by the i7 just want a few extra opinions. I do plan to overclock and the size of the machine is a huge issue. I'm making a small form factor machine so I am leaning toward the 1150 socket for the mini ITX but am open to ideas!

Thank you

Bitfenix is supposed to be coming out with a mATX Prodigy case in October. As far as haswell temps, I think that's old news, I had a haswell build after a recent BIOS update the temperatures on every core dropped.

If you are going to get the 4000 series (haswell) CPU'S you must have a 1150 socket. If you are doing Gaming, and such, best idea to get a 4670k. It is true, i7 only if you're like video editing and such. Same goes for the AMD FX 8350. I would suggest to get a 4670k with a hyper 212. Make sure you get a LGA 1150 socket not a 1155.

Word on the street is broadwell stuff will need a new board. still 1150 but different power management and such will result in the necessity for a new board.

Me personally if I was going for mini itx i would go with an ivy bridge i5 like the 3570K simply because it runs considerably cooler than haswell which maters in such a small enclosure. The performance of the 2 is almost identical and 3rd gen is cheaper and boards will cost less too. Haswell has it's -place, mini itx is not one of them IMHO.

for what I need it just doesn't make sense (no matter how much I want it) to build a PC under these conditions. When I build a PC I wanna be able to really do it properly how I want to. I'm going to have to go with a laptop. sorry to bother you guys
