So the fx-8350 should theoretically be faster than the -i5-3570K?

Don't confuse clock speed (what they are talking about) with absolute CPU speed.

Its true that the FX 8350 is "faster" than the 3570k by terms of clock rate, but the 3570k has a faster per core speed than the 8350. This is because Haswell is inherently faster than Piledriver in terms of single core performance, which is a very important statistic in gaming (despite all the kids yelling about "MOAR CORES").

So basically, what your saying is ... the 3.4ghz of the i5 can do more work per second than the fx's per second? so even though the 8 cores are clocked at 4.0ghz they are not doing as much work as the i5 at 3.4ghz ? Is that kinda close to what your saying ?

Cool I understand.
Now I hypothetical qwestion. If I were to keep all of my current equipment and put it on a newer mother board and new ram of course(am2 to a am3+) would I see a performance increase? My cpu is am3 socket chip... Currently only capable of using ddr2 ram not ddr3.. Also my graphics card is capable of using ddr5 which my motherboard isnt capable of using
