i recently built my own system for the first time and, while i am a bit inexperienced with this sort of thing, i dont think its running as good as it should. I play quite a few games on my pc, which is mainly what i made it for, but for the most part i have a laptop that runs them almost better than my desktop does. Really what im trying to figure out here is if im being bottlenecked badly or if there are some components that just arent as good as i thought theyd be.
My desktop has;
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition
GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7750 w/ 2gb ddr3 PCI-E 3.0 DX11
MOBO: ASROCK 970 Extreme3
PSU: Rosewill Fortress 550W

I know its a low-end build and it does play a few games well but i think this gpu is better than my laptop's and it doesnt do as well alot of the time. Any help will be appreciated.

My laptop has an i7 CPU and the gpu is an nvidia gt630m 2gb with 8gb Ram. I play a little bit of everything like Tomb raider, Starcraft 2, Wow, gta4, Cod:BO2, SWTOR, far cry 3, borderlands2, I like to try a lot. I wanna play the crisis series but those are hardcore demanding and I don't wanna play em at 20fps. Btw I forgot to mention my desktop has 8gb ram as well. I know the laptop is decent for a laptop but I want my desktop to be better. Just for reference I wanna be able to play wow or SWTOR at 60 fps WITH at least a lil bit of shadows, not only that but most of the games I play any sort of antialiasing is out of the question, along with shadows anywhere above low or medium which IMO is where most of the realism comes from. I usually do keep drivers up to date and I've tried to OC my GPU and the temp stays relatively low from what I understand(around 50c is highest I think I've seen) but it will still crash my gpu if I OC it even a lil

Well see I would think the same but 99% of the time my laptop keeps up with it. Granted my screens are different , desktop has a 16:10 so i usually play on 1280x800 and my laptop is 16:9 so I play at 1280x720 to get the fps I like and even that's without AA and minimal shadows on both. I'd like to go to 1680x1050 on my desktop and still hold my fps though. Do I need an upgrade to achieve this ? Or should it be performing as such right now, lets just say for WoW, as it unfortunately gets more play than any others.

Well it depends, like I said I want good shadows, I guess i could do without AA for now but even at 1680x1050 with everything set to around medium I'll get like 27-30 fps depending on what I'm playing. Some would say that's ok but call me greedy I want 45-60 haha.
