I have an aspire one with windows xp. Everytime it is turned on, it goes to a black screen with white words informing me that something went wrong. On this screen i have these options to choose from: safe mode, safe mode withnetworking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, ans start windows normally. Ive tried all options, all of which lead me back to the same screen we began with. I am almost positive that this computer has a virus and just want someone to help me get to the command prompt so i can run system restore to get rid of the virus.

Solution
Does it just restart??

When the pc first turns on. Keep pressing F8. (On and off dont hold it) until you get a screen similar to yours. Select "disable automatic restart on system failure" and see if that yeilds different results. Maybe we got a BSOD issue going on which this will tell us what the error is.
