Not quite sure where to ask this:

i have an Edifier 2.1 system (the one that looks like the alien head) that connects with a single 3.5mm jack to its 'source'.

my mobo has 6x 3.5mm sockets.
1x gray - SID SPR
1x black - REAR SPR
1x orange - CTR BASE
1x pink - Mike In
1x green - Front
1x blue - Line IN

sometimes i seem to get normal sound out of the base unit acting like its a normal speaker and all 3 are playing the same thing as though its getting the same signal sent to the 2 satelites and the base unit?.
i know i cant get true surround sound but surely i can get it set up correctly? my old logitech x410s sound better for things like music! and i seem to only think ooo it was worth if i watch a movie or game. i do seem to get base rumble when i game (in Halo 2) but maybe its just getting a signle it can interperate to base? i.e. its still sending the same signal to all 3?.

currently i have it in the "front" socket and have had it there for a while.

do i have it set up as best as i can? or is it wrong and that is why i just think it is naff at times?

Yes, you should plug into the green socket. Also, check your speaker configuration in Control Panel/Sound/Right click on speakers and select Configure.

Then select types of speakers (2.1 in your case), click next. Make sure to set the "full range speakers" settings as desired. Since you have a sub-woofer, I suggest unchecking the "front left and right" box.

Good luck!
