Hey so I'm trying to put a copy of Windows 7 x64 on my Avatar Tellus notebook, but I'm having trouble. When I direct it to the folder on the flashdrive containing the Intel RST drivers I get the error telling me to use x32 or signed x64 drivers, although I know for certain I'm doing the x64 install and have x64 drivers. I would really like to get this one figured out, because the 32gb SSD is pretty much useless if it's not being used as a deep sleep cache and I might as well have just bought a chrome book or a cheaper asus. Thanks!

Solution
The unsigned driver error is most likely due to the UEFI secure boot that a new machine that comes with Windows 8 and you run into it when you "downgrade." You should be able to use RST if you follow that guide.

Take note in the pink warning box in that tutorial that you need to disable secure boot before installing 7 or you get the unsigned driver problem.
The error message isn't telling you that the driver is the wrong one, it's telling you that the driver in question isn't "signed" to prove it has passed the Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs testing. Windows 7 (and Windows 7 Setup) won't let you install unsigned kernel-mode drivers.

Microsoft set this requirement to ensure that Windows stability couldn't be compromised by a possibly unstable third-party kernel-mode driver, often the cause of instability in previous Windows versions where no such restriction was imposed.

maybe Intel has an earlier version of the driver which runs on Windows 7 but which has been signed?

I can get Windows 7 installed by disabling raid, but it won't let me use the RST if I do that, obviously. Will installing with UEFI solve my problem and allow me to use RST?

Alright. So how do I know if my motherboard supports UEFI? It is an intel 7 series, C2216 chipset running an i3 3217u CPU. Is that enough info? I don't want to brick my new comp, is all. haha

It came with Windows 8 and if it has secure boot it must have UEFI, this from Microsoft: "Secure boot requires firmware that supports UEFI v2.3.1 Errata B and has the Microsoft Windows Certification Authority in the UEFI signature database."

You won't brick it by disabling secure boot -- that just blocks driver installation that is not signed with the digital signature that only works in Windows 8 and 2012, but not in 7. So basically the answer is that you must disable it to use 7.

Now the problem is my ISO of 7 is not UEFI compatible according to Rufus...

I can not disable secure boot in the bios on this machine. I know that's supposed to violate some contract between Microsoft and the manufacturer, but there is no way. It is the Phoenix SecureCore Tiano v2.2. Now I've basically bricked my laptop. haha. I get to the "boot menu" screen, select the USB i'm trying to boot from, the screen flashes, and I get nothing. Pretty bad... I wish I could disable Secure Boot because I'm fairly certain that's the issue.
