I am building a desktop. So far I have picked out:

CPU: FX-8350
MoBo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula Z
RAM: 8gb of compatible DDR3 2000

Now the next to pick is the storage devices. The MoBo has 6 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), red
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
for the AMD SB950 controller. And a ASMedia® ASM1061 controller with 2xthe same SATA and 2xeSATA both 6gb/s. Can I build with just SSD's, would this be better? I also have heard that people use multiple SSD's with one for their OS only etc. How does this work?

Solution

A set of multiple SSDs can get real expensive in a hurry! Most ppl select a single SSD in the 128-256 GB range for the OS and a few essential programs and supplement that with a suitably sized HDD for games, movies music, etc. YMMV...
