Hello guys!

I recently discovered that my mobo has 16x Pci:e and I ordered "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650Ti 2GB" I am now surprised if it's even going to work on " ASRock 3N78D " :-/

My current card is crap, MSI GeForce GT440 1024MB. I have read that all cards are compatible with any Pci:e version but will be much slower (i think), will it be a very huge upgrade for gaming compared to my current card atleast? And will I be able to use it on that mobo?

I'm sorry if i posted in wrong section i'm new to this forum

edit: forgot to add that I have Corsair CX 600W V2 80+, AMD phenom x6 1055T and 4k ram (1333mhz)

Solution
You wouldn't really see a difference when installing a PCIe 3.0 GPU into a PCIe 2.0 Slot so don't worry

Your PSU , the CX600 , is more than enough for the GPU . The GTX 650 Ti requires a 500 watt PSU. So far so good.

But I'm not so sure about your CPU. I know it's base speed is 2.8 GHz , but I don't know if it has a " turbo boost ". A gaming CPU should be able to reach speeds of more than 3 GHz . So you might wanna check on the CPU.

The GTX 650 Ti is a great card. If you had bought the HD 7790 which costs US$130 , you could've gotten a free game. But it's not a good as the GTX 650 ti. The GTX 650 ti is about 5% better , but you would probably see a small increase in FPS , but it's too late now , unless you still can refund it.

You have made a good decision, the GTX650 will be a good upgrade that will work perfectly.
There's no problem with the PCI-E speed, 2.0 can handle far more data than a GTX650 can provide (I don't even think a GX780 will suffer more than a tiny drop in performance either).
Don't bother messing around for a freebie game, you'll probably pick it up used or on sale anyway-if you don't already have it.

Thanks alot guys!

Yeah forgot to add that it has turbo tech, it overclock itself when it needs :) thought my mobo had 1,0 or 1,1 pcie which worried me
