Hi,

I have recently built my first computer with the following components

Intel Core i5 4670k
Asus Z87 Pro Motherboard
Msi Geforce GTX 660
Seasonic X-series 750w power supply

I also have a WD green 3tb drive and a Samsung 840 120gb SSD.

So the problem is that at random times my computer restarts and says Asus Anti-Surge was triggered. I went ahead and bought a surge protector but the same problem has been occurring.

Thanks,
Arjun

Solution
That is what i thought it was, just send it back and get a RMA with it and the new one should work just fine, when you put that power strip on the outlet it should have taken all the excess electricity out of the equation and the power supply should have gotten just enough electricity to function, if it still trips on the power strip then you have a faulty power supply. Thanks, and also please remember to select the best solution so that others may learn from this thread. Thank you for your time.
Normally, I'd be quick to point my finger at the PSU but with an X series Seasonic, it's not as likely to be the issue. I will suggest checking all of your power and data connections to ensure they are firmly connected as a first step here.
It is possible that the Seasonic unit is faulty but check the connections first (also for any loose wires going into the connectors themselves)

If it is happening on the power strip which limits all extra electricity, then it is a faulty psu, connections like that would not be an issue as loose connections would either prevent it from starting or cause it to shut down (usually) the anti-surge itself is built into the psu and would have nothing to do with the system. Also it is rare that Seasonic has a faulty psu, I would RMA it and get another one (free) and if it does it again, then there is something majorly wrong. Also please remember to select the best solution so that others may learn from this thread. Thank you for your time.

I have looked up and found out that asus anti surge protection has been known to be very over protective. I have checked all my connections and they are all in properly.

I would call the company and ask them, they probably want the cable since it came with them, and the box it came in (or something like that), just make sure they send you a new one and you shouldn't see that problem again. Mistakes get made once an a while when dealing with mass electronics, even Corsair, Seasonic, and XFX make mistakes, I had a DOA (dead on arrival) XFX Pro, which is unheard of as well, just RMA'd it and in came the new one and no problems since. :)

This is incorrect information, a loose connection anywhere in the system has the ability to cause erratic behavior along with the possibility of not starting or of shutting down

I have looked up on other threads and saw that some people just turned off asus anti surge protection in the bios and everything worked fine. They said to make sure the power supply is a stable and trustworthy power supply. Is the Seasonic X series a stable and trustworthy power supply?

Yes, very. If you have this on surge protection with a warranty on the items if it fails thru the power strip then i would suggest doing this, however if it is not a high end power surge protector and offers no warranty to the items connected i would not do it. But yes this series is a very very trust worthy power supply.

ok thank you. Do you still recommend sending my power supply in for an RMA, because i have a high end surge protector from Belkin (Belikin Surge master Advanced)
