I'm going to make a budget office computer for my aunt and she doesn't want it to be too expensive so I'm left with these processors. And the Core i3 costs $50 more, which one should I go with? She's going to use it for basic tasks like microsoft office, internet browsing, watching movies and so on. No games.

It appears the i3 is newer and better when it comes to performance, and you maybe able to notice the difference if you use some CPU intensive programs. Yet,the additional $50 can't be justified by this variation. I'd say i3 is very expensive. In my opinion, you should be fine with the G2130,if you plan only to do basic tasks like browsing net, watching movies MS office etc. Eventhough, you'd need atleast i3's HD graphics if you intend to watch pure HD videos and movies, since the Pentium would fail you in that case.

I disagree with your first statement. Both the i3 3220 and Pentium G2130 are 22nm Ivy-Bridge CPUs. But yes , the i3 3220 is better.
