good day all, im a bit of a noob when it comes to searching the web for new components and i was wondering if you, the kind chap who clicked on this thread, could help me find a motherboard that has the following features:
support for ddr2 AND ddr3 ram, in 4 slots up to 32gb,
an AM3+ cpu socket,
graphics adapter with the capability of handing gddr5 ram and 2gb of vram,
this would be a great help to me as i said im not very good at this kind of thing :)
many many thanks
zak

yes there is one by asrock that does, but it states that you have to use one of the other you can not use both ddr2 and ddr3 at the same time, sorry i quoted that from another site. But yes that is correct, there is no such thing as being able to run ddr2 and ddr3 in the same board together. Sorry.

There isn't one that supports both ddr3 and ddr2, and if you try to mix them you will severely i mean severely bottleneck the ddr2 ram. Also i need to know your price range for one, and what video card you have Radeon or GTX.

rule of thumb, if a motherboard were to support both DDR2 and DDR3 (which there are a few out there), you will only be able to use one or the other, never both at the same time. and as far as i know, that model only supports DDR3 (unable to view the link from work)

However this would be my recommendation for you:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£104.39 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £104.39
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-09-29 11:55 BST+0100)

This is a very stable board, which supports the USB 3.0 header (for front USB 3.0 on the newer cases), and complies with everything you listed, plus it is very reliable. This will support an 8 core 125 watt processor as well, except for the dual ram part (it only supports ddr3), but if i was going to recommend you a board, i would definitely recommend this one to you.

okay thankyou very much for that ill take that into consideration :) its just i need one that has ddr2 slots because i dont really want to buy more ram as i have 12gb in ddr2 form :/ so if you could possibly use your expertise to recommend me a mb that supports anything above 12gb in ddr2 form with am3+ socket and the same as before that would be a great help :)
