mesh filter effectiveness?

Yes we need more information in order to give you the right answer. Because metal mesh filters can filter almost anything but it really depends on the aperture/the mesh opening. You sure need a very dens metal mesh filter to filter out the smallest particles and dust, but it is possible. 1 micron up to 100 micron are very dense filters and can filter out very small particles. 100 micron up to 500 micron filters small particles and everything above 500 micron begins to be a filter where you can see the holes in with your naked eye. 1000 micron = 1mm
