hey guys, i am trying to build my first budget gaming pc and i picked Antec VP550P 550watts 80% efficiency for my gaming rig:

cpu: Intel Core i5-4570 3.20-3.60GHz Haswell
motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H
ram: Corsair Vengeance 8GB Dual 1600 CL9
storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
video card: Palit GTX 650 Ti BOOST OC 2GB DDR5
power supply: Antec VP550P 550watts 80% efficiency Power Supply

also, i will be installing 3 120mm case fans

question:
is this a good psu?
is this psu enough for my gaming rig?
i read in some other sites that some antec products could damage motherboards and graphic cards - is this true?
any advice for my rig?

i guess this is the only good and cheap psu i can find that is within my budget

Thanks in advance :)

That psu is ok and will be enough to power your rig. Any psu can damage your m/b and/or gpu if it dies, not just this particular Antec.

Where are you located and what is your psu budget? THIS psu is a great buy and well made (seasonic).

markwp, thanks for your answer man

im from the philippines and i dont think XFX 550W 80 PLUS is available here right now. the antec vp550p costs PHP1900 (around $45) and PHP2000 is my budget

i guess i can go over my budget but only if its worth it - Seasonic S12II 520W 80PLUS Bronze(this is around $16 more than the antec vp550p and has only 520 watts. do you think this is better?)
