There is nothing you can do to that system to let you game on it. It is FAR too old and weak.

I'm sorry, but adding a graphics card will not allow you to game on that system. It is FAR too old and underpowered. According to the specs I found you are running a Pentium D, socket 775, with only 256mb of RAM. The maximum ram supported is only 2gb, not enough for a modern operating system, let alone playing a game. Some of the newer games use more than 2gb of ram just for the game, let alone the rest of the system. There is no modern graphics card weak enough to not bottleneck that processor. You need a whole new system.

Here.. the actual specs for anyone interested: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00751157&prodSeriesId=2512431

Out of curiosity I ran my laptop with only a single 2gb module installed. It was far too slow to be bearable. I suppose 2gb could work if it was a bare-bones install of windows, but not with the amount of stuff I run.

Graphic cards are not the only thing that uses PCIe, and back in 2006 when your system was made you MIGHT have been able to get away with some games on that system if you had a GPU and more ram, but nothing made within the last few years is going to run on that system no matter what you do to it. I know that is not what you want to hear, but sadly that is how it is. My system is a few years newer than yours and considerably more powerful, and there are alot of games I struggle to run at the lowest settings, and many that I can not run at all.
