Hey guys,

I'm not a noob at all on PC (soft part) but that one is puzzling me.

My config is 2500k, 16GB DDR3 (running at 1600mhz), 500 GB SSD HDD Samsung, 1 G/bits ethernet cable to switch, 1 G/bits netgear switch, 1 G/bits cable from switch to LG nas.

1) While transferring big files to the LG NAS i reach 5 mb per seconds maximum (no sequential writing). It didn't bother me at all so far, but if there is a trick for that which i'm not aware of, please shoot. i'm going on the iSCSI road and updating the firmwire first. Let's see if it works. If you have advices, they are welcome.

2) My biggest concern is the following :

When i transfer to an external USB HDD, no problem at all (144mb/sec transfer) every thing is snappy. But when i perform a transfer to the NAS the whole system is slow.

Windows dragging is slow, typing is slow, opening an app is slow, everything is slow.

Here is what i unsuccessfully did :

- Uninstalled unwanted App
- Uninstalled Rainmeter
- Pass Ccleaner well configured
- 4 Antivirus (Malwarebyte, Housecall trend, AVG, ADWcleaner) -> a few adware found nothing bad though

When this issue occur, i have a minimal amount of programs running

- Firefox, Chrome,
- CMD prompt
- Skype
- Evernote
- notepad
- Explorer
- Steam
- Dropbox, GoogleDrive
- iCloud
- Internet Download Manager
- Livechat client for websites

If you have any idea of what is causing this weird issue or how to solve it, please shoot, it is driving me crazy.

It happens also when i read a movie on my router (another network storage device)

I'm going to perform all windows update at the moment. Will update if i find anything.

Solution
When you read a file or your router, Is that just a network share?

Maybe you need to get an update for your network card driver.

I personally have ALL my files/desktop/videos/pictures/ect on a network share without major issues so far.

Network Card Driver ... It MUST be it. I'm going to check that right away
Yes it is a network share. The NAS is mapped as network hard drive in explorer and the router (which has also a built in NAS) is a regular network share from network locations.

Okay, It appears that the drivers installed was only the Windows default set of drivers.. It must come from here.
Thank you ever so much as i haven't even remotely thought about that for one second. It will solve tons of problems.

Okay problems solved!

Both in one! Thanks Mod for the prompt answer, it saved me quite a lot of time. I would not have thought of drivers as my install is a clone from an old install made 2 years ago while this PC wasn't used that much.

Basically, now i write to 10-15 mb/second from PC to NAS (i think i can improve that slightly) and 30 mb / sec NAS to PC (more or less the right speed of the HDD) and the system doesn't lag anymore while doing so!
Thanks a lot!

I have updated the sandybridge drivers as well and it seems to behave better for some others things.
