Hello,
I am selecting components for 2 comps, and I could use some help. The purpose of the comps is to run Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V with a bunch of VMs and to test various scenarios involving VM hosting, clustering, and migration. No gaming or other fancy stuff; just want to have decent performance and the ability to test OS features.
In regards to video, I need to meet the following requirements:
• Support for VDI and RemoteFX.
• Support for dual monitors (DVI and VGA).
• Support for max resolution at least 1920x1200.
• It has to be relatively inexpensive.
Based on these considerations, I am considering the following card:
Zotac (ZT-61012-10M) – with GeForce GTX 650 Synergy Edition 1 GB GDDR5
I have 2 monitors: Samsung S24A450UW, which have 16:10 aspect ratio and 1920x1200 max resolution, and I want a card that supports at least that much.
Zotac’s site says this card’s max resolution is only 1920x1080:
www.zotacusa.com/geforce-gtx-650-synergy-2gb-zt-61012-10m.html
Some reseller sites show much higher resolutions:
www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_559&item_id=060321
www.singular.com.cy/zotac-geforce-gtx-650-graphics-card-1gb-gddr5-pci-express-3.0-x16-dvi-d-sub-hdmi.html?sl=EN
Can anyone who has this exact video card tell me for sure which max resolution this card supports?
On one hand, 1920x1080 seems surprisingly low for the GeForce GTX 650 GPU, and I hope it’s just a mistake on Zotac’s Web site. On the other hand, it’s possible that the card manufacturer for some reason decided to limit the GPU’s max. On the “third hand,” Zotac has cheaper cards with lower-end GPUs supporting resolution up to 2560x1600.
Can anyone tell me what exactly would happen if I connected my monitors to the aforementioned video card? And in case if this card indeed doesn’t support 1920x1200, which card would you recommend instead?
I’d appreciate anyone sharing their relevant experience and providing a useful advice.
