Go into control panel, settings for mouse (trrack pad) and adjust tracking speed.

The speed is fine I think, it's just that the mouse is not following the exact movement on the trackpad, for example, if I want the mouse to move to the right and swipe my finger on the pad to the right, the cursor will not follow, it will move to any position on it's own

Check on the dell site and see if they have a driver update. I had the same problem with my Asus. I stopped using the Asus driver and went to the driver put out by the trackpad OEM.

The device ID's showing for the mouse driver are:

HID\VID_046D&PID_C408&REV_1400
HID\VID_046D&PID_C408
HID_DEVICE_SYSTEM_MOUSE
HID_DEVICE_UP:0001_U:0002
HID_DEVICE

Go HERE, choose your o/s and click on the mouse, keyboard button. See if the latest driver there is new than your driver.

Very possible. I have an old dell and the trackpad is pretty touchy - the contact screen is almost rubbed away.

EXACTLY the same here, the touchpad's screen original material has been rubbed away.

Which is why I use a wireless mouse with it now. Laptop still runs fine, but tpad is pretty much shot.
