I was just looking through CPU's and I'm building a new rig for gaming and I seen this

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/amd-fx-9590-black-edition-vishera-8-core-s-am3plus-clock-47ghz-turbo-5ghz-4mb-x2-l2-cache-8mb-l3-cac

I'm feeling like diving right in and snapping this up. I seen someone post already about this and someone said that the deal ends midnight EST?
Another said that the Intel® Core™ i7-4770K Processor but im not so sure with this price drop?
So I'm asking you guys what do you think?
Is this the best bang for buck there is just now around £200-300 (not dollars) price mark?
(power costs isn't an issue)

Thank you

The FX 9590 is the same as the FX 8350 and FX 8320, just clocked higher.
With the same cooling you can reach the same frequencies on all three chips.

It will perform roughly as well as the Core i7 4770K.
But, the Core i7 still has a lot of overclocking headroom.
Comes with a cooler.
And consumes a lot less power.

So, the Core i7 is better in every way basicly.
If you want an AMD FX 8 Core, grab a FX 8320 instead.
If you're looking for the fastest CPU in that price range, get either a Core i7 4770K or a Core i7 4820K.

IT was never my science. I am really curious as to how they price these things. why can I find the i7 4820K cheaper than i7 4770K and from as far as i can see it is better from its specs and model number point of view (I'm not to great at all at telling these things)?

The Core i7 4770K is based on a newer, slightly faster archetecture.
BUT, it runs hotter and thus tops out at lower frequencies.

The Core i7 4770K is usually a bit faster in most tasks.
The Core i7 4820K however is more suitable for a multi-GPU gaming system or a PC in which you need a lot of memory.

Let's not exaggerate here, mate. I'm no AMD fan, but I3 will never touch FX9590 and it will probably whack most/all non-overclocked I5s too.

That said, I look at FX9590 as a huge bet. TDP is insane, heat it generates is probably insane too, would require a premium cooling and I suspect that it won't last long either, it's basically CPU which is stretched to the edge of capacity. Not something I like.

There is no Core i3 CPU that will beat the FX 9590 in gaming on avarage.
There are very, very few exceptions in which the Core i3 can be faster.
And those are games known for their poor coding.
Skyrim for example with its x87 code.
OR, old games that both CPU's can max out easily anyway (WoW).

The FX 9590 is far superior to any core i3.
And no, i5's will not always win.
It depends on the i5, but in most cases they are on par.

As for the laptop CPU's, you are dead wrong.
The only CPU's that can match the FX 9590 in multithreaded performance are desktop Core i7 ones, or maybe laptop Core i7 extreme editions.
Everything else is left in the dust.

"the fx9590 really has poor single threaded performance still around 70% slower then the 4770k"
No, just no.
The difference is there, but it's a lot slimmer.

Benchmarks.

As a gaming processor, I wouldn't recommend it (Though, considering the release of Mantle and how the next generation of consoles have an 8 core AMD processor...It could be something to think about later). But I wouldn't recommend anything more than a 6300 if gaming is your concern.

If you'll be doing anything other than gaming, or multiple things whilst gaming? It's a sweet deal. I'd love to have one for World Machine, let me tell ya.

And guys, GUYS!
