Hey guys. I'm planning to build a gaming PC for the first time. The specs are:
Core i5 3570
Gigabyte H77 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance(4x1, 2 nos.) 8 GB DDR 3 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660
Samsung 20 Inch 1600x900 Monitor
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
Corsair 550 W PSU
(Let me know if I missed out something)
I'll be making this build in about 8 months.Yeah, I know :(

My current Config is:
Core 2 Duo E4400 2.0 Ghz
3.5 GB DDR 2 RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT 1 GB DDR2(I think)
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. Again, I know :(
HP 17 Inch 1280x1024 Monitor

My question is, how long will my new PC last, assuming there's nothing better at that time at that price?Any suggestions regarding parts? I prefer an Intel-Nvidia combination, and I won't be overclocking. Also, I just bought the GTA IV Complete Collection. I want to play it, but I know it will run like crap on my current PC. Should I wait to play on my new PC, or try to play it on my current one? I ask because I've come across some guides involving command lines and text edits to make GTA IV run smoother on low end PC's too, so I'm not completely sure what to do. I can wait, but 8 months! :(

Sorry if this was too long or If I wasn't clear about something.
Thank you.

Solution
If you upgrade the Mobo, GPU in a year or 2 it can still last 4 years (That said I am talking about running games not running them perfectly)

Expect medium graphics nothing high, unless you get a fairly decent GPU.

Some GPU's do require a minimum of 600W PSU though.

-GPU = graphics card
-PSU= Power supply
-Mobo=Motherboard

(Just in case you didn't understand what I said :))

You cant be 100% sure. My last build is about 6 years old and for now its still doing okish (some games can have a few spikes of lower framerates, but overall it works well).

That PC should last you 3-4 years assuming you dont want to play every game maxed out.
However, with the new consoles coming up, some things might change here faster than expected (thats why I am holding on with my upgrade).
