So I have a stock 2GB 680 right now. I was gonna skip the current generation cards and see what happens with the maxwell/hawaii GPU's, but I've heard that these will still be using 28nm. Does any one know when the switch will be made? Will it be worth waiting for? I mean they could suck :p  I was also looking at buying another 680 to keep me going but i don't know :/

More about : 20nm gpu 680 2gb

if you wait you will be left begind (Intel and AMD ,NVIDIA) never stop leveling up technologies

That's not necessarily true. A 680 is an extremely powerful card and should be able to run most games at max (@1080p) until the release of the 20nm cards (probably between Q3 &Q4 next year). Seems like a better idea to save your money and wait for then as they will theoretically have a much bigger jump in power than a refinement of the 28nm GPU's.

That card is powerful enough that an upgrade right now is not warranted. If you are in the need of a new card it is just past the line where waiting is better. So waiting on those 20nm chips are going to be worth it, and if not, the current 28nm prices will drop further. Even buying a card now isnt the best choice as the prices are declining.

Tell me What are you going to do with the GTX680 wen 20nm cards arrive?

every contry has its method I think, so im curious for instance

1-here in Cuba the more you delay seling the GTX680 the more money you will lose, for that reason we prefer to make better little jumps on technnology than big ones that simply cost to much at the end.
2-Buying another GTX680 sems to me like crazeness,so then you will lose double money.
3-Radical changes some times delay a litle and prises dond care.
4-For instance since GTX480, changes are (nm,TDP,PCIe2.0 to 3.0,etc) and people change to GTX580,GTX680,GTX780 anyway
5-So why waiting for a big change
Here is an example

Upgrading MOBO socket 775 to 1155 on this times
Here Core2DuoE8400 cost 60dls right now (I bout it on that days for 140dls) so if I where to sell it now I will lose 80dls
the motherboard G41 chipset I can sell it for 80dls so I will lose 40dls
and buying a decent 1155 board (B75)will cost 120dls
and prosesor i3 3220 for example 150dls
Here in Cuba things cost to much

The more waiting the more money losing

The difference is with hardware the longer you wait, the better prices you will get when you buy. Waiting right now allows you to have the option of thr R9 series of graphics cards which are going on sale this month, so those will be a good choice, and also if not those, current prices will drop. The longer you wait the better performance on investment you get. You do loose some on selling, but its a lot less than the money saved by waiting.
