Modem/router unit loses speed slowly throughout the day, but is back at full speed when reset?

My router/modem unit is the third one we've rented from the ISP. Throughout the day, bandwidth slowly falls off and randomly disconnects from the internet, but as soon as the unit is reset, speeds are back at full.

The drop is a coaxial. There are no phone lines associated with this system.

It ended up being just plain bad luck that the 3rd unit in a row didn't work properly. Arris modem/router units have really disappointed me. Bought a motorola surfboard modem and a linksys e-series router and my troubles have been long gone.
