If you are installing a new mobo, then in all probability you will be installing a fresh OS (will likely need new OS license). Chances are you can just install over what is already there

no i don't quite think so im getting a replacement motherboard from a failed flashing bios. the hard drive has all the old drives and such and i dont want to leave all the crap drives on their. also if i call microsoft and explain im getting a replacement motherboard theni think they can allow me to reuse the OS i've read it on some forum pages.

Probably, yes, MS will authorize a reinstall for that same key. You may have to do it via the phone robot, or ultimately talk to a human.
